“The month of early spring is when virtue resides in the trees.” The best time to plant a tree was ten years ago; the second best time is now. The same is true for healing the heart. On Arbor Day, we hosted a series of wellness workshops designed to plant seeds of mindfulness—encouraging our students to root themselves in self-awareness and grow toward the light.
Across six classrooms, students engaged in six immersive experiences: nut-shell bell crafting, art therapy, handpan music, singing bowl meditation, a "venting" forum, and improvisational theater. By engaging all five senses, participants were invited to shed labels and expectations. They "listened" to the rhythmic resonance of the instruments and "spoke" through the weaving of colors, the creation of drama, and the resonance of shared emotions.
By deconstructing every brushstroke and every hand-crafted detail, we are constructing our own spring.
